What is a Selection?

C2.           Just follow this; This might be a more simplified definition than one would find in books ‘Photoshop  for Dummies’

C3. With a thick marker pen or with other marking tools, You would put a score of underlines and had put encircles around, perhaps  2576 x 10^-2 words in various locations of these page.

C4.   These encircles would mean, that you have selected, those words, phrases indicating me (preferably not the public) of my errors.  Similarly in the Photo editing software like photoshop or corel-draw, we could do similar demarcation on an image, with those pen like equivalent called selection tool.

C5.  Once an area is selected, pick up the paint bucket,   (A Photoshop equivalent is meant here), to apply a paint color or try to apply a filter effect to the entire image. You would see that the soft-ware would constrain the effect, only to those few areas, we have earlier selected.  Unless you mark an area  manually the computer would be clueless to do a selection on its own.  Meaning a computer could not be anticipated to select a beautiful face of a smiling secretary, – (surrounded by serious faces of Executives in a picture of corporate group), using its own intelligence.

C6.  But we know that an artificial intelligence (AI) could be infused into, by preconditioning the computer with a set of instruction, logics (factual) to do such a complex task. Yes it is happening at certain level called Emotion recognition.  For e.g., The emotion of Monaliza’s smile is diagnosed to be

C8. luckily Perhaps an emotion of Lust or any other ones are identified, right now just be satisfied with four kind of emotion only.

What is Blue screen (Chroma Key) Process:

     As said earlier, the software of a computer, with the required set of instruction (logics).  It could do a task like for e.g., to search and locate areas in an image, consisting of a defined color, say a blue, green or pink.  This factual could be applied to distinguish or to mark an outline, around an object or element that is surrounded by a background of uniform colour & contrast.  In the earlier motion-picture of pre – digital era, a bright blue color background was used for that purpose, on which the actor performs. The Color-separation was done optically, capitalising on film with blue sensitivity, hence called Blue–screen process.  But a present day any color could be treated as a background as long as, that specific color should not be present in main subject.  Since we are to the effect to  identify any one color that is defined, hence is called as chromakey – a process of Keying-in.
